It’s All About Heart // 2.11.11

Bryson Bowers has more heart than anyone I know.

He’s two. He’s my son. He’s incredible.

Last night at bedtime, I let him tell a story. He stumbled through a saga about a TRex and Raptor trying to fight us but then he (Bryson) killed them both. Yes, he was the hero of his story. It was awesome. He saved both mine and his brothers life. Stud.

That’s Bryson.

While he told it, I had my head laying on his chest. I could hear/feel his heartbeat. It was beating like 100 beats per minute. It felt like he was sprinting but really he was telling a story.

But it was more than a story. It was real to him. He was there. Fighting.

He believed what he was saying.

If only people saw me that way. If only they saw you that way. As believers of Christ.

What if they could somehow feel/hear your heart in relation to the story Christ in your life?

Is it real? Are you fighting? Is your heart in it too?

Because the reality is this…

It’s all about heart.

And if your heart is not in it, then your story is not worth telling.

I want to know how God created this world. I am not interested in this or that phenomenon, in the spectrum of this or that element. I want to know His thoughts; the rest are details.

Josh Hamilton is the real deal.

For those of you struggling and wondering if there is hope and a future…watch this and be reminded that God designed you with both a hope and a future in mind.

Jesus died for all people //

Jesus Christ died for all people.

Not a chosen group.
Not a select few.
Not the elect.

Everyone.

He is the propitiation (satisfaction through sacrifice) for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the sins of the whole world.” - 1 John

John was writing to this letter to believers, those who knew Jesus and had committed their lives to him. He says very clearly that Jesus died not just for them. We need this truth to hit our churches harder than ever before. We are not an elite group whom God selected to bring to a right standing with him while others perish as we celebrate our understanding. That is a ridiculous notion. When Jesus took on the cross and died in our place, he took upon himself all the sins of people past, present, and future. That includes me, you, and the people we see around us everyday of our life.

All the people.

There have been great attempts to thwart this message and somehow sell the idea that God sent Jesus to die for an elect few or a predestined segment of humanity. Now, we all know that not all people will come to know God so that group will be a select portion of people but know this…

That was not and is not the will of God.

“This is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to besaved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.”  - 1 Tim. 2:3-4

So, God wants all men to be saved but they all won’t be?

Exactly.

That’s the way it is whether you like it or not.
So, let’s live and spread his name and fame to everyone.
We don’t know who will receive his truth until we actually ask them.
